This summer I will be riding my bicycle across the country to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities. Push America, the national philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity has a goal of teaching people about the abilities of people with disabilities. The Journey of Hope is a cross-country cycling event in which 80 men ride 4,000+ miles starting in either San Francisco or Seattle and finishing in Washington, D.C. I am doing the Trans-America route so I will be starting from the Seattle location and working my way across starting June 6th. This year the Journey of Hope will fundraise over $500,000, which is given back in grants to organizations benefitting people with disabilities all across the country. I’m not doing the Journey of Hope only because of the cause and the unbelievable life-changing experience I will have but for my stepsister Becky who has a mental disability. She is such an incredible, loving, and caring person that I feel this is a great way to show how much I care about her. Before I leave for the summer, I have committed myself to raise at least $6,500 by June 3rd. It will take a lot of hard work and the support from everyone I know. Help me make a difference across the country by giving a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to Push America. You can donate by either sending a check back to me made out to Push America or donate online at my personal fundraising profile (https://secure.pushamerica.org/trevormernitz). Please forward my letter or information to anyone who you think would support this great cause. I thank you for taking the time to make a difference in the lives of others, and look forward to hearing from you soon.
