Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe 2008-2009

by Dmitry Yuskovets

In April 2008 I packed my backpack, stuck my passport, wallet, and a RTW ticket into the pockets of my jeans, mumbled a prayer for a safe travel and got on the plane to India. My plan was to keep on going east and south - until I either drop from the edge of the earth, or, eventually emerge from the other side, making friends, seeing places, living life along the way.

Australia

by Tomthienen

Having graduated from uni I reckoned it was time for a bit of adventure as I was soon to make my first steps into corporate life. Having had multiple visions of getting stuck in one place, early burn-out, commuting traffic, back-stabbing colleagues and late working hours, I got the brilliant idea to travel around backpackerhaven Australia. I guess the I-do-not-want-to-work-yet-microbe was more strongly present than the finally-I-get-a-chance-to-make-some-money-of-my-own-feeling.

Nepal in a Nutshell

by Lee Moore

So we came from India, and did Nepal in 13 days. Is that enough time to see this really cool country? No, but that's why its just Nepal in a nutshell. Maybe next time, I'll explore it a bit more in depth. Still, it was great fun, but I had travelers diarrhea in Kathmandu, so I missed out on one day of fun. Our journey could be parceled into three parts: Pokhara, trekking in the Annapurna part of the Himalayas, and Kathmandu.

Oriental Express

by Lee Moore

This is the second leg of my month long journey across sundry parts of Asia. I've called it Oriental Express because it follows the tracks of the famous luxury train, for the most part. We go from Bangkok towards Singapore, but I don't quite get to Singapore. Halfway down, we meet up with my friend's ladyfriend, then just keep on trucking.

I'll be meeting up with a Friend in New Dehli and then traveling around India and Nepal. From there, we'll be going to China, probably through Malaysia.

Short Trip to Death Valley

by Bramdruckman

On the way into Death Valley via State Route 136 and 190 from Lone Pine, California, one passes some of the most spectacular scenery in the southwest. First up is Panamint Valley, a long, dry basin running north-south bounded by rugged, tree-less mountains on the east (Panamint Range) whose steep faces run with exquisitely-colored bands of sedimentary rock layers. For thirty miles and more, these undulating patterns wind their way south toward the Mojave Desert...
